The 16th Annual Rose Run returns to the small town of Petersburg, Michigan, on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, in support of the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center. This beloved event, hosted in memory of Petersburg native Rose Marie Hunt, continues to make a profound impact on breast cancer research and patient care at one of Michigan’s leading cancer treatment facilities.
The Rose Run, initially established by her family in 2009, honors the legacy of Rose Marie Hunt, a cherished wife, mother, sister, friend, and adored member of the community. Rose’s courageous battle with breast cancer inspired the creation of this event, which has since garnered widespread participation, drawing runners and walkers from across state lines. Over the past 16 years, The Rose Run has raised over $250,000 for metastatic breast cancer research and patient support, embodying the enduring spirit of community and philanthropy.

The Petersburg race marks the commencement of Community Day festivities in the town, situated conveniently between Toledo, Ohio, and Ann Arbor, Michigan, just off US 23. The vibrant celebration includes a true ‘small town’ parade at 12 noon, shortly following the conclusion of The Rose Run.
“To see a community come together to honor a woman…and to then see the influence of change in that…pretty amazing.” – Kendra Pinkleman, participant & volunteer
